As of 01 October 2009, coating manufacturers’ ASTM F 718 Product Data Sheets on this site are no longer being stamped “NAVSEA APPROVED.”   They are instead being stamped “NAVSEA REVIEWED.” 

Only ASTM F 718 data sheets posted on this site and stamped NAVSEA REVIEWED are allowed for Navy preservation projects in critical coated areas. (The old NAVSEA Approved F 718s can be used until they are replaced by a NAVSEA Reviewed version).  Unstamped vendor F 718 data sheets are not allowed. The F 718s posted on this site have been reviewed by NAVSEA to ensure conformance to the relevant Navy specifications and documents. Other variations are not allowed.

NAVSEA's review covers only the application process for the material.  The NAVSEA Reviewed watermark does not denote the material as a qualified product, nor does it constitute an approval for purchase/procurement of the material. For products on the Qualified Products List (QPL) for any particular MILSPEC, please refer to https://assist.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch/. Note: MILSPEC Type, Class and Grade Removal

As new or revised NAVSEA-Reviewed ASTM F 718 Product Data Sheets are being prepared for uploading to this site, all references to product Type, Class and Grade are removed.  The Qualified Products Database (QPD) and NAVSEA’s periodic Advanced Coating, Covering, and Cleaning Systems message are the only approved and up-to-date sources of product qualification information.  Users should first select a product qualified for the intended application from either the QPD or the current NAVSEA message and then obtain the NAVSEA-Reviewed ASTM F 718 for the product from this site.

The date shown is the date of the current revision to the applicable Military Specification.
